Ontario’s premier believes northwestern Ontario can play a major role in recovery efforts.
In an exclusive interview with CKDR News Doug Ford said, “I think you play a critical role as you did prior to the pandemic. We were booming as a province. No matter if I was up in Dryden, or up in Kenora, the biggest challenge we faced is we needed more people to fill the jobs.”
Ford says as long as they create an environment for companies to thrive and grow, that will be critical.
He notes the government was able to reduce $7 billion of burdens off small and medium sized businesses over the last year.
Ford adds, “They have the environment to really grow and we’ll be there shoulder to shoulder with them. Making sure that they have enough people. Especially in what we are hearing in the mining industry and the forestry industry. It’s tough to get people in those industries.”
