Doug Ford Goes to Washington

Ontario Premier Doug Ford is taking his NAFTA concerns straight to Washington.

Ford will be joined by Minister Jim Wilson as they head to Washington today to meet with the Canadian negotiating team.

Chrystia Freeland, Canadian Foreign Affairs Minister, has been meeting with her American counterparts to try and negotiate a new trade agreement between the USA, Mexico and Canada.

Freeland has been fairly quiet on the private talks but her and the Prime Minister have made it clear they won’t accept a deal that isn’t the best option for Canadians.

Ford has repeatedly stated Ontario is open for business and he will do what is best for the people. In a press release, Ford says the deal must protect the auto and agricultural sectors.

Minister of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade, Jim Wilson says it’s important to meet the Canadian delegation face to face and push Ontario’s case.
