Sioux Lookout Mayor Doug Lawrance is now the confirmed candidate for the Provincial Liberals in the new Kiiwetinoong Riding.
Lawrance began his quest for nomination on April 4th. He says he is honoured to be running on Premier Kathleen Wynne’s team.
Doug Lawrance also says he sees this opportunity to bring the shared goals and unique challenges of the region to Queen’s Park.
He mentions his involvement in the area as an engineer with Keewatin Aski Ltd for over 25 years before he was elected as mayor in 2014.
Finally Lawrance says they’ll fight for the care and services Northern Ontario needs through policies that will enhance access to health and long-term care, provide free prescription medication, extend the clean electricity grid to northern First Nations, development of the Ring of Fire and provide a $15-an-hour minimum wage.
