More bad news for the forest industry in northwestern Ontario.
Weyerhaeuser has announced that the i-Level Timberstrand
Mill in Kenora will be taking several weeks of downtime during the first quarter of this year.
Peter Mardon is the mill’s manager and says they have been hit hard by the downturn in the U.S. housing market.

Weyerhaueser says as many as 100 associates will be laid-off temporarily, while another 41 associates will lose their jobs permanently.
Mardon says they plan to start up the plant for one week
in February and March if there is demand for timberstrand.
