Drugs Seized At A Festive RIDE Program In Machin

Failing to provide a breath sample at a Festive RIDE program has resulted in the arrest of a local man.

The check was conducted Saturday on Highway 105 in the Township of Machin.

A driver approached the stop and was requested to provide a breath sample but he refused.

The accused was placed under arrest.

A subsequent investigation resulted in the seizure of methamphetamine, cocaine and cash.

Provincial Police say 59 year-old Daniel Desmarais faces a total of four charges.

  • Failure or refusal to comply with demand contrary to section 320.15(1) of the Criminal Code (CC)
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000 contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the CC
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA)
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA
