The City of Dryden has another key vacancy to fill.
Airport Manager George Friesen has announced his resignation after 23-years on the job.
Friesen will be moving to Alberta in late August-early September.
Friesen is moving to pursue other opportunities.
Friesen says he’s worked with some great staff.
He’s thanking Vic Johnson, Norm Sanders, the late Helga Uber and Cherry Rivard as well as his current staff.
Friesen also credits the late Dick McDonald.
He says McDonald was a mentor and a close friend and had great faith in Dryden and the Airport.
He is also remembering the passengers and crew of Air Ontario Flight 1363.
Friesen says the tragic incident prompted the Airport to ensure passenger safety.
The vacancy delivers yet another blow as the City is facing several other openings.
The City is now without a full-time Economic Development Officer, City Manager, Library Manager and Recreation Manager, among other high level positions.
