A major setback for Dryden.
The City has been told that the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation is sticking with its $14-million assessment of the Domtar Mill.
Mayor Craig Nuttall says they are joining forces with Espanola and they both plan to launch an appeal with the Ontario Divisional Court.
Nuttall says they have already been in contact with their lawyer.
He calls the decision ridiculous and stresses they aren’t going to lie down and accept it.
Nuttall says the City can’t afford to repay Domtar $5.4-million and notes he wants to wait and see what happens with the appeal.
