A great mix of young and old, from various cultures, gathered at the Arena today to take part in National Aboriginal Day festivities.
Elders started the day by recognizing the community and traditional dancers and drummers took over as part of opening ceremonies.
The day featured pagentry and music as well as activities for kids and various displays.
But the message was co-operation and forming new partnerships.
Eagle Lake First Nations Chief Arnold Gardner spoke on the importance of working together, no matter what the race.
Gardner says the day is also important for aboriginal youth, noting it allows them to be proud of their culture and their future.
He described the event as the “perfect kick-off to Summer”.
