The draft budget for the City of Dryden calls for a 3.34 percent increase.

City Treasurer Kim Junko says that includes increases to a number of external agencies.

“A 7 percent increase for insurance premiums, 2.67 percent for the KDSB (Kenora District Service Board) levy’s, 4 percent for the Home for the Aged and 4 percent for the Health Unit.”

Junko also outlines other spending increases including in the draft budget.

“$180,000 of that is for council legal costs, which represents 1.08 percent and $378,000, 2.26 percent relates to labour, inflation, insurance and social services.”

If there are no changes, the budget represents a $584,000 increase over this past year.

The budget isn’t expected to be approved until the new year.
