Dryden city council to review 2 overbudget projects tonight

A couple of infrastructure projects in the City of Dryden are expected to come in well over budget.

Council is expected to review the South Van Horne Housing Enabling Project and Duke Street Reconstruction Project at tonight’s open meeting.

The South Van Horne project is expected to be awarded to Makkinga Contractors for $9.2 million and the Duke Street Project to Accurate HD Limited for $7.9 million.

That’s 23 percent and 51 percent over budget respectively.

Despite the cost overruns, city staff are still recommending council approve the tenders.
