An amazing turnout Sunday for Remembrance Day events in Dryden.
There was no room to move at a morning ceremony and evening banquet at the Royal Canadian Legion, and hundreds braved the cold weather for the noon hour wreath laying at the Cenotaph.
Branch 63 President Doug Miranda says it was a day to honour our soldier’s as well as come together as one.
Miranda says the idea of these ceremonies is bonding with veterans, Legion members and the community and ensure everything and everyone remains positive.
Miranda says it’s our responsibility to look after our vets, whether it be financial assistance or government advocating.
He stresses all of us must continue to help, noting there are various support programs available.
This was a special year as it marks the 100th Anniversary of the end of World War I.
However, Miranda says it was an opportunity to gather and recognize those who fought for our freedom in both World Wars, the Korean War, Afghanistan and other conflicts.
