Dryden Council appears ready to vote in favour of a resolution that will see the City contribute $20,000 a year for 10-years to establish a Northern Ontario School of Medicine bursary.
The project is being led by the Dryden Regional Health Services Foundation and was launched thanks to $700,000 from an annoymous donor and matching funding from the Provincial Government.
The City’s portion will be coming from a tax levy, with the Foundation required to look at neighbouring communities to cover the remaining $700,000.
The money will be distributed to those attending the School of Medicine who are willing to work in Dryden.
Council is expected to approve the move next Tuesday.
