The City of Dryden has decided to hold off on a recommendation to close the Barclay Fire Hall.
Council was expected to vote on the decision on Monday night, however Chief Administrative Officer Ernie Remillard suggested that they hold off to allow for public input.
The issue will be brought up again at the May 8th Committee of the Whole meeting.
Anyone in support or opposed to the idea, which has been supported by the CAO and the Fire Chief, will have to register with City Hall to comment.
Those opposed to the recommendation in attendance Monday night are concerned about losing another service in Barclay and insurance.
Those in favour stress the move will save the City money without compromising public safety.
A report states merging firefighters to Fire Hall #1 for emergency response and training will improve response times.
Research shows Dryden is one of the only communities its size in Canada with more then one Fire Hall.
