The Dryden Labour Adjustment Group may keep its doors open.
Council has agreed to extend the contract from November first to the end of March 2010.
The Group now needs approval from the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities.
Council is also in support of applying for a contract extension.
The DLAG helps laid-off workers learn new and basic skills and provides a link to potential employment opportunities.
Nearly 600-people have visited the Group since the start of April.
