As CKDR first told you when the 2012 budget was passed, taxes are going up 10% in Dryden.
Staff confirmed the move last night as the city is sitting with a roughly $1-million deficit.
Mayor Craig Nuttall says Dryden Mobility is sitting with a $1.3-million deficit after 6-months in 2012, while municipal operations are $521,000 in the hole.
The financial picture for the city is still cloudy as it awaits a re-assessment hearing for the mill next week.
That hearing is not expected to go the city’s way.
Nuttall says things are moving forward and council now knows that finances have to get under control.
Councilor Mel Fisher says the city does have problems but stresses staff and council have to take a more positive approach.
He says the community has great potential and council has to start looking forward.
Fisher says communication is poor among councilors.
