A Dryden family is thanking the Ministry of Natural Resources, police and municipal fire crews for their quick response in a major grass fire on Lever Road last month.
Larry and Sharon say they returned to their home on the Saturday afternoon not expecting to see what they did.
Larry says they arrived on scene to a parade of fire trucks and helicopters dropping water on the flames.
He notes it wasn’t very long until Police evacuated the area.
They saw the smoke as they were going down the road but thought it was coming from the dump.
Larry says if it wasn’t for the work of fire personnel, there home as well as others, would have probably burned to the ground.
