The City of Dryden is one of seven communities across Canada taking part in a pilot project aimed at limiting children’s access to lighters and matches.
The initiative will begin on a large scale locally as well as Kenora, Calgary, Winnipeg and Toronto.
Fire-department staff as well as retailers will voluntarily refuse to sell matches and lighters to minors.
They’ll also work to educate parents and caregivers about the impact of kids playing with fire.
