It’s a reminder from the Dryden Fire Service to keep your smoke alarms up-to-date and having a plan!
On Sunday Dryden Fire Personnel responded to a report of smoke in a house on Zealand Road.
Crews say when they arrived, all of the occupants were evacuated and light smoke was found in the rear bedroom area.
After searching the fire service discovered a ballast had melted and was burning one of the fixtures.
The crews performed some ventilation and left promptly.
Acting Fire Chief Ryan Murrell says the Early warning from the smoke alarm and a good escape plan were demonstrated which lead to minimal problems.
