The Dryden Regional Health Centre has completed a major step in
securing a cat scan unit for the Hospital.
A 55-page proposal is being sent to the Provincial Government,
explaining the urgent need for the machine.
CEO Wade Petranik says its tough to say when they will hear back from
the Ministry of Health.
The machine and renovations to store the unit are expected to cost
$3-million, with annual operating costs running about $500,000.
The Hospital has about $2.2 million already set aside.
Petranik adds the CT unit will eliminate a majority of patient
transfers to Kenora, Winnipeg and Thunder Bay.
