About 45 people from the Ministry of Natural Resources, First Nations, fire departments and other agencies are in Dryden today and tomorrow to attend a FireSmart Canada workshop.
Don Mortimer is facilitating the workshop and he says delegates will learn more about expanding their fire prevention role as well as their area of expertise.
Mortimer says they will leave with a template that they can take back to their respective communities and organizations.
Mortimer says trainees will gain expertise to help others in various areas including wildland fire behaviour, how homes and structures are threatened by wildfire, and how to recognize fire hazards.
The program is a nationally recognized initiative.
