Area Municipalities are scrambling to meet strict new regulations under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act.
Chief Building Official Bob Cunningham says Dryden has drafted a comprehensive policy to deal with issues impacting those with disabilities.
Municipalities will be required to meet new standards in customer service, transportation, communication, employment and environment.
The City must now train some 200-staff on the new regulations before January first.
Volunteers, casual staff, Board’s and Council will also have to be trained.
Cunningham says Dryden will act as a training centre for 12-area municipalities this Fall, to ensure everyone is prepared for the regulations.
