As quickly as a Consultant stated Dryden could facilitate a
300 machine, 16 table Casino, the Province has said no new Gaming
facilities will be built in Ontario.
The Municipality was looking at that possibility as a way to attract
tourists and businesses to the community.
Dryden Mayor Anne Krassilowsky says the second part the project that included a 100-seat Hotel and 500-seat Convention Centre is likely dead as well.
Krassilowsky plans to present a recent Consultants report
recommending a Casino to Minister of Economic Development Joe Cordiano.
She says the Casino would have created jobs and inject
thousands into the local economy and she plans to ask the Liberals how they
plan to help the City.
Krassilowsky adds the Liberal Government told them an announcement on
Gaming facilities was coming in March.
Cordiano has also announced that there will be no Video Lottery
Terminals in Bars and Restaurants and no Slot Machines in Bingo Halls.
