Dryden Olympic Torch Bearer Named

A Grade 12 student at Dryden High School has been selected as the Community Torch bearer when the Olympic Flame arrives on January 4th.
Michelle Arsenault will run the Torch the final 300-metres to a large stage where she will then light a 1.3-metre high cauldron in an elaborate ceremony.
Arsenault says its an honour.
She says for her the Olympic Games highlight the importance of hard work and determination as well as never giving up to reach your goal.
The environmental leader has convinced several businesses in the Dryden area to ban the use of plastic bags and has organized several other environmental awareness events.
Meantime, the Local Torch Relay Organizing Committee is planning several events for January 4th.
A special ceremony will take place on the waterfront with several outdoor activities planned.
Details will be rolled out during the next few weeks.
