A local Optometrist believes it would be political suicide to not make changes to a new Provincial Health Care plan.
Under the proposal, Eye Exams for people between the ages of 20 and 64 may no longer be covered as early as November.
Dr. Brian Lockyear says the Government is still responsible under the Canada Health Act to provide certain services and he wants to see medical exemptions.
He says its human nature that some people will cut back on routine check-up’s however he doesn’t expect too many people too lag in their vision testing.
People need regular check-up’s to ensure their eye sight is being monitored and to spot problems early.
