Dryden Police Comment On Injured Deer In Dryden

Dryden Police say there’s not much they can do about a deer spotted around town with an arrow lodged in its side.
Chief Rob Davis says they don’t want people to get the impression that they don’t care, but it’s not what they’re trained to do.
Dryden Police officers aren’t trained to tranquilize or bait them and capture them.
If an animal is in distress or injured, Davis says they are trained to shoot the animal and put it out of its misery.
Meanwhile the Ministry of Natural Resources is asking for the public’s help to find the person or persons who shot the deer.
If you have any information, please contact the MNR at 1-877-847-7667 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
The MNR says it’s an offence to hunt deer during the closed season, and if found guilty, the persons can face fines of up to $25,000 and may serve two-years in prison.
