Dryden Police haven’t seen a spike in cannabis-impaired driving one month since legalization.
Chief Doug Palson says they have been consistent with other police agencies in Canada.
However, Palson notes that may change when new strict rules come into play on December 18th.
Fines will go up significantly and it will become easier to receive jail time if you are caught driving under the influence.
Palson also says more awareness is needed on the laws around storing marijuana in vehicles and passengers smoking weed.
