An increase of 82% in arrests and criminal charges was a major factor in a 2007 deficit of $220,000 for the Dryden Police Service.
Chief Shayne MacKinnon says the number is misleading as they received a 9% increase in their annual Policing Grant, which offset most of the increase.
MacKinnon adds staff received a pay hike which brought them back to the Provincial average.
The Police Service receives no outside funding for Court security and prisoner transportation.
