Dryden Police Service Releases Final 2014 Stats

The Dryden Police Service has released its final stats for 2014.

The number of calls for service was way down at just over 7,200.

There were nearly 11,000 calls the year before.

The yearly report shows domestic incidents and use of force reports were down and there were fewer thefts.

Officers also spent less time walking the beat as they recorded 145-hours of foot patrol, down from 417 in 2013.

On the flip side, there was a spike in traffic violations between 2014 and 2013.

Officers dealt with 585 Highway Traffic Act violations, up 254 from the year before.

Motor vehicle collisions and parking infractions were also up considerably.

Police also dealt with an increase in assaults and laid more charges under the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act.
