Dryden/Red Lake Region See Small Spike In COVID Numbers

The Northwestern Health Unit is reporting two new positive cases of COVID-19 and three probable cases Monday.

They are all in the Dryden/Red Lake region.

Officials say a probable case refers to an individual whose test results aren’t available but who is symptomatic and has had close contact with a confirmed case of the coronavirus.

The health unit says it conducts contact tracing and monitoring of self-isolation for all cases, both confirmed positive and probable positive, within the region.

Two classes at Dryden High School are closed due to a risk of COVID exposure.

The Thunder Bay District Health Unit recorded five new cases today.

Ontario is reporting 1,958 new cases of the coronavirus as Canada marks the one-year anniversary of the first known COVID-19 case in the country.

Forty-three more deaths were reported.
