Dryden Reps Continue Meetings At AMO

It’s been a hectic couple of days for municipal leaders in Ottawa.
Dryden Mayor Craig Nuttall is leading a local delegation at the Association of Municipalities of Ontario conference.
Nuttall says they have already met with the Minister of Municipal Affairs, Minister of Natural Resources and an aid for the Minister of Health.
Nuttall says the contenous issue of land ambulance non-emergency transfers was the main topic of discussion yesterday.
He says the Province acknowledged that it’s a serious problem.
Nuttall notes on a federal level they have held meetings with FedNor Minister Tony Clement.
Nuttall says he has raised the issue of funding to pave Highway 17 through Dryden.
He says Minister Clement has assured him that they will do everything in their power to see the project through.
The province needs to first deem it a priority area in order to free up roughly 500-thousand dollars in federal funds.
The City’s share is a minimum of 700-thousand dollars but it may balloon to 1.2-million if the feds don’t come through.
