Dryden Rotary Recognizes Young Speakers

The Dryden Rotary Club is recognizing the city’s best young public speakers.

The club had the winners from their public speaking contest make their speeches at their weekly meeting on Wednesday.

Co-Winner Kira Graver’s topic was 3-day weekends and why we should have them every week.

Graver stated having extended weekends would make our population healthier and improve student grades and attendance.

She thanked her teacher, Mr. Hart, for helping her with her speech and getting her in a place she wanted to be.

Graver says she selected the topic because she was really passionate about it and really wants to see three day weekends.

3rd place winner Raili Makela talked about perseverance and how it helps you accomplish things in life.

Makela says persevering is an important part of life and helps you become successful and secure a solid job.

She says a lot of famous people failed at first, but because they had perseverance they are famous now.

The other 1st place winner was Kaitlin Viherjoki with her topic on Helicopter Parents and 2nd place went to Fiona Cook who spoke about the power of music.
