Opposition is mounting against the sale of 60% of Hydro One.
Dryden City Council is lending its voice by passing a resolution opposing the privatization of the crown corporation.
Mayor Craig Nuttall admits there are fears electricity costs will go up as a result which makes it more important to conserve energy.
Nuttall says the province is panicking and scrambling to find money and stresses they will be hitting everybody.
He notes the move doesn’t make financial sense.
The resolution says Hydro One has recorded profits of $2.3-billion over the past three years and has provided the government a dividend of $588-million over the past two years alone.
