Dryden women figure large in college hockey wins

It was another great weekend for two former Dryden Eagles in college hockey.

Megan Pinette had a another hat trick as the Rainy River Community College women’s hockey team dumped the University of Minnesota-Duluth 7-1.

Then Sunday it was Melissa Calder’s turn to shine as she pitched a shut out in a 4-0 win for the Lady Voyageurs over the UMD Bulldogs.

Calder, who is from Fort Frances, and played in Dryden for the Eagles, has three shut outs in her five games so far this year.

Next weekend, Rainy River Community College will be in Duluth to battle the St. Scholastica Saints.
