Amateur Muay Thai fighting is coming to Kenora this weekend.
The sport is described as Thai Boxing, with kicks, punches, knees and elbows to the opponents head.
Dave Zuniga coaches Dryden’s Sarah Carter who is competing in the K-Town Throwdown and he previews her match against 37-year-old Sarah Bishop from Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Zuniga is expecting a back-and-forth fight, noting Bishop has the experience advantage.
However, he stresses Carter is as tough as it gets and believes she can take it to the end for the win.
Zuniga says he found Sarah through a friend of his in England, where Carter was training and competing.
She would end up joining Zuniga’s Winnipeg gym.
He calls Sarah a real go-getter, meticulous, incredibly fit for her size and aggressive.
The event is being held at the Golden Eagle Charitable Casino on Saturday night starting at 6:00.
