Dryden’s Walk For Dog Guides

The 7th annual PetValu Walk for Dog Guides was on Sunday.

Dryden’s Trillium Lions host the event every year at Cooper Park, along with a charity BBQ.

All donations go towards the Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides.

To date there are 6 Dog Guides in our region.

And there are many different types of Dog Guides, not just for sight but also autism assiatnce, hearing aid, seizure response and diabetic alert.

Susan Pollock, spokesperson for the Lions says it costs 25-thousand dollars for the entire process of getting a Dog Guide.

The funds from these walks are used to train and place a dog with a person in need, at no cost to them.

Pollock adds that this year they should meet their goal of raising enough money for one Dog Guide to be placed in our area.
