DSSAB Budget going up

It took a month to do it, but the Kenora District Services Board has finally passed its 2006 budget.

A number of municipalities weren’t keen on the 2.8 percent increase, but there was enough support to pass the budget at yesterday’s meeting in Dryden.

Rory McMillan chairs the finance committee for the DSSAB and says Kenora, Dryden and Sioux Narrows/Nestor Falls all voted against the budget increase.

The mayor of Sioux Narrows/Nestor Falls, Gerry O’Leary says his municipal council had been pressing for a zero percent increase this year.
