Statistics Canada is once again crowning Thunder Bay as “Murder Capital of Canada”.
The agency is out with its 2014 homicide report and findings show the Lakehead topped the national murder rate list with 11 homicides last year per capita.
It’s the highest homicide rate among cities with a population of 100,000.
Thunder Bay was nearly three times higher than Winnipeg, which came in second.
Mayor Keith Hobbs says it’s not a statistic that anyone can control and says hopefully their rates will decrease as they continue to deal with the issues that lead to murder including, drugs and alcohol, housing and other social issues.
