One thing is for sure, the Duke Street Overpass will be completely closed for roughly 12-weeks this summer, the question is when.
Staff were hoping to start construction late this month, but Council and Chamber of Commerce reps have asked the City to alter the schedule to avoid a loss of revenue during the peak tourism season.
Manager of Capital Planning Blake Poole says he will speak with the contractor who submitted the lowest bid, to see if they accommodate a later start date.
Poole says they can’t keep the overpass open to 1-lane of traffic due to safety issues.
The project must be completed by March 2012, due to Government funding commitments.
