Dwindling Lake Trout Population

The Ministry of Natural Resources in Red Lake is trying to trick late
trout into spawning anywhere but Pinestone Bay, were eggs have traditionally
died.
Spokesperson Nadine Thebeau says over 15,000 young lake trout have been stocked in Red Lake as part of a 10-year rehabilitation plan.
She estimates there are only about 3,000 trout left and most are
between the ages of 14 to 40 years old.
