Eagles Football Team Kick-Off New Season Today

You can’t ask for a better match-up to open a new High School Football season.

The Dryden Eagles make the trip down Highway 502 today (Friday) to face the Fort Frances Muskies.

Defensive Back Coach Braydon Hansson talks about the significance of this first game.

“It’s all about setting the tone coming out early and letting people know in this league that we’re here to play and we’re going to play you all the way until the end of the game no matter what the score is. I think this first game is important to come out, be physical, give it all we got, and set the tone for the rest of the season.”

The Eagles lost to the Muskies in the revamped Northwestern Ontario league last year in a heartbreaking championship final but Hansson says they are looking for a clean slate.

Dryden, Kenora and Fort Frances are back in the Winnipeg High School Football League.

Hansson says this years Eagles team has skilled play makers on both sides of the ball.

This is one of only two road games for Dryden as they are blessed with five games at home.

Kick-off is 3:00 pm in Fort Frances.
