A silver medal for the Dryden Eagles High School Girls hockey team.
The Eagles fell to the Fort Frances Muskies 4-3 Sunday in a thrilling end to the NWOSSA championship.
Coach Tim Getson says his team didn’t give up after falling behind 4-1 heading into the final period.
Getson say they didn’t give up and it was a gutsy effort.
He says the girls can hang their head high.
Getson says the goal all season long was a trip to OFSAA and they kept knocking down road blocks along the way.
He notes they just couldn’t through this last one.
Martina Wintle scored a pair of goals, while Elizabeth Carter added a single.
Fort Frances out shot Dryden 30-29.
The win for the Muskies marks their first ever trip to the All-Ontario Final.
They will be joining the Boys as Fort Frances cruised to a 7-3 win over the Beaver Brae Broncos Sunday to advance.
