Eagles Girls Pull Out 3-1 On Road; Two Wild Games In Boys Hockey

It wasn’t pretty but the Dryden Eagles Girls High School Hockey team picked up a win in Keewatin Tuesday night.

The Eagles scored all of their goals on the powerplay in a 3-1 win over the St. Thomas Aquinas Saints.

Leah Balla, Jess Carter and Payton Boyko found the back of the net.

Dryden outshot the Saints 35-12, including 16-0 in the final period.

Jacquie Grandmont picked up the victory.

It’s a quick turnaround for the Eagles as they are back on home ice Wednesday against the Sioux Lookout Warriors.

Meantime, in Boys play, there were two rare shootout games.

Dryden squandered a 5-3 lead but rebounded to secure a 6-5 win in Sioux Lookout against the Warriors.

The Red Lake Rams couldn’t pull out the shootout win as they lost 4-3 to the visiting Saints in a game that went back and forth,
