Eagles upset Muskies in WHSFL semifinal

The Dryden Eagles are off to the Winnipeg High School Football League’s AAA division finals.

The Eagles got by the Fort Frances Muskies 31-24 on Thursday in semifinal action.

Dryden led 15-6 at the half, in part on the strength of a fake field goal where Emmerson Moir threw to Raynor Powell for a touchdown.

Dryden extended the lead in the second half before the Muskies mounted a furious comeback that fell short on the final play when a pass fell to the turf in the end zone.

The Eagles will face the St. Norbert Celtics next Wednesday in Princess Auto Stadium.

The Celtics upset the Churchill Bulldogs in the other semifinal 17-14.
