Eagles Win Homecoming Game

‘Homecoming’ success for the Dryden Eagle Football team Friday.

The Blue and Gold dismantled the Tec Voc Hornets 41-9 in a spirited affair at Harry McMaster Field.

Ryan Martel would open scoring for the Dryden Eagles when he scampered in for a 4-run touchdown run.

The Eagles would extend their lead in the second quarter when Jeremy Euler scored from 1-yard out.

The major was set up by a 35-yard catch from Tanner Russell.

Dryden would explode offensively in the second half with a 12-yard touchdown catch from Adam Saunders, a 52-yard run from Ryan Martel, a 20-yard run from Shane Kirton and a 12-yard score from Josh Oberg.

Coach Geoff Zilkalns says it was balanced attack and the team ran hard all week to become the aggressor.

The Eagles combined for 536-yards of offence.

The top defensive players were Drew Walske with 5-tackles and an intercepetion.

Calum Cheesequay-Thom and Tanner Russell also recorded picks.

Patrick Wall recorded a fumble and Ray Durand got a sack.

The next action for Dryden is next Friday at home under the lights.

The team is bringing in flood lights for the 7 o’clock game against Fort Frances.
