A four year struggle for funding is over and Ear Falls is ready to move forward with the hiring of an Economic Development Officer.
The federal government is investing nearly $265,000 over three years for the new position.
Mayor Kevin Kahoot says the EDO will act as a liaison between Council and the business community.
Kahoot says the successful applicant will have to undertake studies focusing on attracting and retaining business.
He says they will also be tasked with helping the community with recreation and tourism opportunities.
Kahoot says the long-term goal is to establish an Ear Falls Chamber of Commerce.
He stresses they want someone who has the best interests of Ear Falls at heart as well as someone who can network on a regional level.
Kahoot says they hope to start advertising for the position very shortly.
