Concern is growing in Ear Falls as the communities only doctor is scheduled to leave at the end of this month.
Kenora-Rainy River MPP Sarah Campbell raised the issue in the Legislature today (Thursday) and says the Government is doing nothing to address the crisis.
Campbell says Ear Falls has attempted to reach out to the Government but claims the Ministry of Health will not return the Town’s calls or e-mails.
The NDP member notes she’s been in the Legislature for only 3-weeks and this is the second time she’s had to ask the Government to ensure her constituents have access to medical care.
Minister of Health Deb Matthews says the Government has made it a high priority to increase physician coverage in the North.
Matthews pointed to a number of areas including the development of the Northern Ontario School of Medicine.
She adds the Government is doing everything it can to encourage physicians to work in Northern Ontario.
