The early literacy initiatives that were implemented 5-years ago are
getting rave reviews.
Stats compiled by the Keewatin-Patricia District School Board show
that primary students are meeting or exceeding provincial standards in
reading and writing.
Wendy Parkin says the Board is doing a number of positive things.
Parkin credits the fact that early literacy teachers are now in place
at every elementary school.
She believes literacy results will only get better as the Board is
expanding its oral language program.
