No major change in funding for Ontario Schools.
Education Minister Liz Sandles says funding will remain stable at $22.5-billion.
Sandles notes more money is being spent per student due to declining enrolment.
She is encouraging school boards to shift their focus from maintaining underused facilities to improving student programming and getting schools wired for the 21st century.
Sandles adds there is money available to help northern boards deal with the costs of empty classrooms.
There will be more money for technology, as well as a doubling of the fund for school construction.
Sandals has also unveiled “grants for student needs”, including funding levels for individual boards.
The province will also release new guidelines for area reviews, which typically lead to school closings.
