Twenty firefighters from Minnesota, Michigan and Wisconsin will leave Dryden Wednesday to assist crews in British Columbia.
Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry Information Officer Debbie MacLean says they’ll team up with local fire personnel.
MacLean says this is a unique partnership and believes it will be the first time MNR crews have partnered with firefighters from another jurisdiction to work as one large group.
There are currently 431 Ontario staff now working in B.C.
The province plans to deploy another 125 personnel this week starting Wednesday.
Meantime, more than 140-Ontario personnel who have provided support in the western province this month are scheduled to return home this week.
Ontario has also provided B.C. with 10,000 lengths of fire hose, 200-pump kits and other materials.
