Finding solutions before they become problems.
That’s the mantra these days at the Experimental Lakes Area between Vermilion Bay and Kenora.
Executive Director Matt McCandless says one research project they will be focusing on is algae and its impact on area lakes and rivers.
He stresses it’s still a major issue and most lakes in the world are facing increased algae levels.
McCandless says they will also be looking at invasive species and their impact on North American lakes.
He notes there is a lot of talk surrounding plastics in water and where they are coming from.
